The difference between a brochure, flyer, leaflet, and pamphlet is difficult to discern. Often customers come to PRI Graphics asking for what they think they want when what they really need is something else.

While there are similarities, there are also quite a few differences between a leaflet and flyer (or brochure). Here’s what they have in common:

  • All can be printed on sheets of paper
  • They are all promotional marketing materials
  • They are all lower cost marketing initiatives

Leaflets are used for targeted marketing campaigns that have a bigger budget and a desire to leave a lasting impression on the reader or customer. The wording, graphics, and layout design of a leaflet are very carefully thought out, as the message needs to be just right.

Brochures are more complex and typically printed on standard sized paper with multiple folds. They can either be bi-fold or tri-fold brochures and each panel may have it’s own margins and layout, including paragraph headings, photos, etc. Brochure Printing is intended for use as reference materials. They provide more detailed information and tend to have a longer shelf life than a leaflet or flyer.
